the fall . . september 22, 2001 . The Five-O . 6pm - 2am . A gothic/alternative/punk/etc art show will be opening on September 22, 2001 at The Five-O on Hillsborough St. in Raleigh, NC. We are looking for musical groups, artists and poets to investigate the theme of 'the fall'. Live Music: Entry Due Date: Saturday, August 11, 2001 Description: There will be room for three bands to play for this art show opening. Bands will be chosen in the first-come, first-serve method, provided that the tape/cd is acceptable for the theme of the show. Requirements: * Bands must submit a tape/cd(r) of their music for review; written lyrics would be appreciated. * Bands will play a 25-35 minute set, and are expected to breakdown from stage in 15 minutes. * Bands should have previous live experience. * Chosen bands will be notified at least two weeks in advance of the show. * Bands should have an gothic/industrial/electronic sound. * No smoke machines allowed! For more information, contact James at anomad@npav.com Spoken Word/Poetry: Spoken Word Performance Due Date: Saturday, August 11, 2001 Poetry Only Due Date: Saturday, September 8, 2001 Description: There will be room for no more than 5-6 performerances, though more poetry may be printed in a 'zine for all to read. We are looking for two categories of peotry: Good and Bad. Please label your peom accordingly. Requirements: * All poetry or spoken work must be original. * Performers must submit a sample of their work for review; a written transcript would be appreciated. * There wil be no open mic; all performers will be preselected. * Performers will be notified at least two weeks in advance of show. * Performers will have a mic setup through the house PA system. * If a poet would like thier peom read by someone else, please have the perferred performer submit a tape. For more information, contact James at anomad@npav.com or Cat at stacey.burns@stratech.com Visual Arts: Due Date: Saturday, September 15, 2001, by 7pm Description: All visual arts are welcome, with each artist submitting no more than 5 peices. This art will be on display at the five-o for 1 month, unless otherwise arranged with the organizers or the five-o. Requirements: * All artwork must stay within the scope of the show: gothic/industrial/punk/pagan/bdsm/etc * There is a maximum of 5 pieces. If you want to show more than five, or the artwork is large, please contact us. * If possible/applicable, artwork should be in archival format and ready-to-hang. * All artwork must be accompanied by the artist's name, the asking price, the mediums used, and the title of the work somehow attached to the artwork. * Please keep in mind that all submitted prices will be raised by 20% to take care of house fees. Not For Sale items will not be sold. * In the occurance of too much artwork to fit in the provided wall space, we reserve the right to remove peices from the show. Please number submitted artwork by your preference of removal. * Artwork should remain on display until the end of the show (TBA), unless special arrangement is made with the house. additional info for visual artists: * There is no charge for submitting work. * All personal contact information (other than your name) will be kept by the organizers, and only given out in the case of sale. If you wish to have contact information made public, please let us know. * Artwork will be stored in a secure, dry, smoke-free location before the show, and all efforts will be taken to keep them in pristine condition. * We additionally reserve the right to remove any artwork for any reason.
