Raleigh

• Kings
  Downtown Raleigh, 424 South Mcdowell Street, next to the Vertigo Diner.
  Directions to Kings (taken from an email by Ross Grady: you should check out his Triangle Music Scene Events page):
  "King's is on McDowell Street in downtown Raleigh. Here's how I go: Take I-40 towards Raleigh, and take the Wade Avenue Exit. Follow Wade Avenue until it meets I-440 (aka the Beltline). Get on the Outer Loop of the Beltline (that's the first exit onto 440, before the overpass) and go a couple of exits (the first one is Hillsborough, and then there are two separate exits for the two directions of Western Blvd) You want the second Western Blvd exit, which has a sign for NCSU and downtown Raleigh. and which goes off right & then loops around so you wind up going left/east.

  Take Western Boulevard all the way into downtown Raleigh, past the fringe fast food joints, and past NCSU, and past Central Prison on the left and Dorothea Dix on the right. Couple of miles, a half-dozen stoplights at least. If you haven't been to Raleigh in the past 3 years you'll be surprised to learn that they've extended Western Boulevard all the way through the south side of downtown. After you pass Dorothea Dix, you'll start seeing exits. You're looking for the McDowell Street exit, which is the 3rd one, I believe. It loops off to the right & back under & you end up going left/north, into downtown.

  Up a little rise, under an overpass and you're at a stoplight. There's a car dealership or something there on the left. Go through that stoplight & then start looking to park. King's is on the left a block or two further down, but it's hard to park once you get that close. King's is right next door to the Vertigo.

  Directions to Go! Studios:
  Go to Franklin St. in Chapel Hill. Head W. on Franklin St. As you get to the Carrboro/Chapel Hill border (at Merritt Mill Rd, where the Jiffy Lube and Crooks Corner is), you'll see the Car Wash to your left. You may notice a small street which intersects with Franklin, just to the left of the Car Wash. This is Brewer Lane, and Go! Studios is on Brewer Lane, just behind the Car Wash.

Charlotte Locations

• Oleens - now closed.

  OK, since I'm assuming you'll be coming down 321 to 85, we'll go from there. From 85, you will take the exit for Sugar Creek Rd. At the top of the ramp, take a right onto Sugar Creed. You'll stay on Sugar Creek for a mile or thereabouts, and when you get to the intersection of Sugar Creek and N Tryon, take a right. (It's a big intersection, you can't miss it.) Once on N Tryon, you'll follow that road for about a mile, and you'll turn left onto Craighead (can't miss a weird name like that). Once you're on Craighead you will follow it until you come to North Davidson St. Once you're on N Davidson, follow it until you see Fat City, which will be on the right side (I think it's 35th Street) with a tent outside of it.

• [CLOSED before Dec 2005] The Perch - north on Hwy 77, take exit 9b onto 277, take exit 2a as if you are going to the hosiptial, *warning 2a has a fork in it, just as you exit, keep to the left side, DO NOT take the right side* follow till a light, take a right and get into the far left lane as soon as possible, turn left at the 1st light, this will turn into Central AVE, stay on Central *a while* till you see Heaven: the Perch is above that.
• Pat's Tavern Pat's is in Charlotte on North Davidson Street between 35th and 36th streets (just a few doors up from Fat City).

• Daily Double (formerly Daily Double, formerly Pterodactyl) is now (as of 17 November 2000) Genesis, a gay bar, with no goth content. Directions & old writeup saved here for historical purposes.
  Turned into the Hungry Duck, now torn down and gone July 2003.

  The Arena Sports Bar hosts a Goth Night on the first Saturday of each month (August is the exception due to the fact that we will be having the Cruxshadows playing on 10 August, that will be Carpe Noctem III. The bar is transformed for Carpe Noctem: beer ads are covered, neons are off, blacklights are on, candles are lit, and goth items are scattered about the bar. Each Carpe Noctem will either have a DJ playing Goth/Industrial/Darkwave, or we will have a live band or two. The Arena Sports Bar is located on the corner of Hwy 24 (Lejeune Blvd) and Western Blvd next to the Liberty Inn.
